Day 1: ARRIVAL In the city of Vendôme (from Paris, 42 minutes, city of Vendôme, TGV station). Welcoming of our hosts. Country drive to your private château. You take possession of your room. This private château will be your residence for the duration of your stay. We will be the only group staying at the château. On this first day, we have lunch at the chateau and we will leave to Chambord where we will spend most of the day. In the early evening, we will have our first Loire valley wine tasting. Diner will be held at the beautiful restaurant: Le Plessis located in a private awarded garden: “Le Jardin de Sasnière”.

Day 2: After breakfast, we will leave to the City of Amboise and the Clos Lucé. Amboise is where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life, guest of the French King François the first. The Clos Lucé is located in the center of the town next to the château of Amboise. The place is surrounded by beautiful gardens. We will tour the castle and visit Leonardo da Vinci studio. We will stay in Amboise for a gourmet lunch.After lunch, we will drive to the château of Chenonceau build over the river. We will drive back to our own château where we will start the evening with a Loire valley wine tasting focusing on the whites. I will explain the wine making process and go over many of the Loire valley wine appellations. A gourmet diner will follow, you will be able to relax on the grounds of the château and explore the private forest if you like.

Day 3: After breakfast, we will leave to the city of Saumur, after un short stop, we will drive to a private train station where we will board a restored restaurant wagon from the era of the famous Trans Orient Express. The steam train will take us on a 3 hour journey while having a gourmet lunch and wine pairing. In the afternoon, we will visit the famous abbey of Fontevraud, a unique abbey which was run by Leonor d’Aquitaine and where Richard the Lion heart is buried. We will be back at our château for a Loire valley wine tasting focusing this time on the Loire valley sparkling wines. We will celebrate our last diner à the château with good food and life music.

Day: 4

Visit of Orléans, Joan of Arc

You will have lunch over the Loire river in the city of Orléans.

Day 4

In the afternoon, we will take you to Orléans train station for your trip back to Paris

End of the Renaissance tour: PM

Day 4: The last day of the Renaissance tour will also be exceptional. After breakfast, we will leave to the city of Orléans famous for the history of Joan of Arc. We will follow the passage of Joan of Arc in Orléans city she liberated from the English in the middle ages 100 year war. We will visit the cathedral Saint Croix as well as many of the places where she lived. We will stay in Orléans and have lunch on the Loire river banks. In the afternoon, it will be time to depart to Paris from the TGV station in Orléans. We wil say good bye on the train platform. See you soon in the Loire Valley.
