After breakfast, we will drive to Amboise and the Clos Lucé, the last private home of Leonardo da Vinci. This is an unique opportunity to be inspired by the master. The visit of the château and gardens will take about 2.5 hours. We will follow with a lunch at a award winning restaurant in Amboise, with a bottle of the Loire Valley wine appellation: Touraine Amboise.
After lunch, we will drive to the château of Chaumont, and the International Garden Festival are one of my favorites. the International Garden Festival has been a laboratory for contemporary garden and landscape design worldwide with a theme changing every year. The fortress of Chaumont-sur-Loire was built around the year 1000 to keep watch over the border between the counties of Blois and Anjou. The different apartments in the château are exceptional, including the Catherine de Medici room –formerly a ceremonial bedroom– boasts the oldest tapestry in the Château’s collections, woven in Tournai in the late 15thcentury (The Story of Perseus and Pegasus). The château is also a Center for the Arts exhibiting modern Art installations in the different galeries but also Land Art on the grounds. On the way back to Thoré la Rochette, we will stop at a winery for a tasting.
In the early evening, we will take you back to the TGV station for your return to Paris
