Quality accommodation for the night
Only 42 minutes from Paris, taking the fast TGV train, we will meet you in the morning at the TGV station: Vendôme Villiers, departure from the “Gare Montparnasse” in Paris. We will drive you first to your accommodation, a beautiful troglodyte suite. After coffee, and croissants, we will leave to the famous château de Chambord. The château of Chambord is one of the most beautiful châteaux in France. A magical atmosphere as soon as you arrive. Captivated by a wondrous forest, you will discover extraordinary architecture imagined by François I and imbued with the spririt of Leonard da Vinci. When you visit Chambord, over a few hours you will explore half a millennium of French history.
We will then proceed to the the château of Chenonceaux is located on the banks of the river Cher. Lunch at in Chenonceau at a local restaurant. We will serve a bottle of the Loire Valley wine appellation: Touraine-Chenonceaux. The château of Chenonceau contains an unequalled collection of renaissance furniture, and paintings. You will also be able to visit the very nice gardens of the château.
In the afternoon on the way back, we will visit a local winery where you will be able to meet the winemaker and tour le cellar. This will start your education about the Loire Valley wines. The Loire Valley produces Red wines, white wines, rosés and sparkling wines. Before the end of the day, you will have tasted many of the Loire Valley varietals. On the way back, we will drive through the countryside and forests over to the banks of the Loire river, going through small picturesque villages. There will be plenty of chances to buy the wine you taste and they are such good value you will want to send some home to enjoy with friends, and families. We can organize the shipping, and handle the customs paper work for you.
Diner will be served at a beautiful restaurant located in one of the most rewarded « Remarkable Gardens » After diner, it will be time for you to retrieve to your troglodyte suite (if available) or quality accommodation for a great night.
Possibility to stay in a troglodyte suite (depending on availability) Or you will stay at a private château for the night
After breakfast, we will drive to Amboise and the Clos Lucé, the last private home of Leonardo da Vinci. This is an unique opportunity to be inspired by the master. Leonardo da Vinci spent the last years of his life at the Clos Lucé. The park of the château is filled with full size reproductions of the machines he created. We will also visit the English gardens. The visit of the château and gardens will take about 2.5 hours. We will follow with a lunch at a award winning restaurant in Amboise, with a bottle of the Loire Valley wine appellation: Touraine Amboise.
After lunch, we will drive to the château of Chaumont, and the International Garden Festival are one of my favorites. the International Garden Festival has been a laboratory for contemporary garden and landscape design worldwide with a theme changing every year. The fortress of Chaumont-sur-Loire was built around the year 1000 to keep watch over the border between the counties of Blois and Anjou. The different apartments in the château are exceptional, including the Catherine de Medici room –formerly a ceremonial bedroom– boasts the oldest tapestry in the Château’s collections, woven in Tournai in the late 15thcentury (The Story of Perseus and Pegasus). The château is also a Center for the Arts exhibiting modern Art installations in the different galeries but also Land Art on the grounds. On the way back to Thoré la Rochette, we will stop at a winery for a tasting.
In the early evening, we will take you back to the TGV station for your return to Paris
